The new design features a flared base for stability and clear areas for inspection and positioning. The user unlocks the device and presses a button to automatically insert the needle, deliver the medicine and retract the needle.
From the very beginning of the design process, over several years of prototyping and design refinements, people with various chronic diseases, were engaged to provide feedback. Most people did not like needles and had challenges in handling and using small syringes. The new design kept the needle hidden and provided a simple and safe injection experience.
